to Our Story

Why WII...

In 2017, a couple of us working in this male-dominated industry wondered, if we create a platform for women investors to come together and network, will they find it valuable?

The resounding response to our first few gatherings provided a very clear answer - yes, such a group does provide value. It provides a safe space to meet other women in the industry, share notes and experiences; to form valuable connections and provide mentoring, support; and ultimately, strengthen the representation of women investors in key decision-making roles. Equally important -- it’s a space to let our hair down, build relationships and connect across time zones and geographies. Membership has grown from that initial set of 8 to over 200 now, all member-referred.

"We need more women in investing leadership roles and such platforms enable women investors to share and grow with each other. Very glad to have been an early supporter of the Women in Investing Network and observe the evolution of the group."

Member Survey:

Our members were quizzed on their career goals and the

results showed the ambition and leadership

orientation of the group:

  • 36% aim for partner roles at their firms

  • 27% want to eventually launch their own firms

  • 20% plan to launch or join startups

  • 10% want to grow & expand firm operations

  • 7% want to move to adjacent roles

This is fantastic & important news for an industry that has poor representation of women in leadership positions. We need more women across all roles of the investment ecosystem but as importantly, we need more women in decision-making roles. This is about not just extending the current decision-making frameworks, but in many cases reworking them.

As WIIN, we’re excited about our role in helping make this happen!
